BOOK
My Anti-capitalist Self-care Survival Kit

This book features self-care from an anti-capitalism perspective. Capitalism steals our precious time and value as human beings because it teaches us the idea that we are only valuable through productive waged labor. However, self-care enables us to be grounded in the present and foster mindfulness of our physical and emotional self, leading to more appreciation of every moment of life and more joy and peace within ourselves.

This is a pop-up book, a tearable deck of self-care cards, an interactive exercise. I had a lot of fun making miniature scenes with clay, found objects, and fabrics.

This series of illustrations was created for Navigating Serious Illness: A Pathway for Exploring Life, Love, & Legacy, a book written by two Michigan-based, board-certified oncology social workers. Scheduled for publication in May 2025, the book provides practical support for individuals facing cancer, as well as their families and friends. The visual design aims to convey a sense of vulnerability, comfort, love, support, and spirituality that is deeply woven into the narrative.
